Amla

Amla is an extra conditioning powder for your hair and scalp that is also used on the skin. Amla (Indian Gooseberry) is a fruit. Phyllanthus emblica or Indian Gooseberry has been used for thousands of years. It has many names and comes from many places. It is called Amla, aavalaa, amlaki, nellikka, usin, amala, mak kham bom.

 Gooseberry comes from a tree and is a berry. It is used for many things however we use it as a hair and scalp conditioner. Fresh amla is also believed to slow premature graying. In South India, the gooseberry is pickled and eaten. The tree is considered very sacred in Indian culture.

This powder can give a bit of a light brown tint if left on for long enough, a very light brown blond on white hair.

It can be added to indigo to give you extra shine and curl or used on its own as a conditioning agent.

For Skin:
1. Mix the powder with enough warm/hot water to make a pudding-like paste. Use it to cleanse your face. It is a wonderful exfoliating agent and will leave your face feeling tight and firm.

For Hair:

1. Mix with enough warm water to make a pudding-like paste and apply to hair. Leave on for 15 – 60 minutes. Use as often as you like.
