I was just 9 years old when I saw my dad come up with an idea that would revolutionize the henna industry forever.ย Rodney Harper popularized Henna Hair dye and pioneered the one-step premixed henna process that so many companies today follow. While other kids' dads went to offices, mine was in our kitchen testing plant powders, covered in random spots of henna, and bright red goatees, on international calls with suppliers, and uncovering the dark truth of the chemical hair dye machine.
He relentlessly worked for years perfecting this trade, building an encyclopedic knowledge of henna, and documenting the horrors stories of chemical dyes. But it wasn't just about creating a better product - it was about a pledge to care for those in need and care for our Planet. Giving hope to so many people who thought they'd never be able to dye their hair again due to chemical reactions.
My Dad served over 150,000 people globally, over a million packs of chemical dyes he prevented from polluting our Planet in the last 18 years. Up until his very last days, he was still doing everything he could to tend to customers how he could, and preaching to me about how he wished society would focus more on Mother Earth. He truly had a Heart of Gold.
